Asthma
Asthma is a distressingly wide-spread condition, appears to be on the increase, and can have a drastic impact on a person's quality of life, even when medication can address some of the symptoms.
As holistic osteopaths, we take the view that anatomical structure and function are intimately related. In the case of asthmatic patients many are found to have poor rib cage and thoracic spine, as well as tight muscles in the surrounding areas.
Further, the diet may also provide some strong clues to the pattern and severity of asthma attacks. We use a combination of musculoskeletal and visceral osteopathic treatment, dietary and lifestyle review and adjustments, and physical and postural exercise in mitigating the symptoms of asthma, as well as reducing when not eliminating the need for medication.
