Whiplash Injuries

Treatment at Bridge to Health

Whiplash injuries usually occur as a result of a road traffic accident. Depending on the speed and the angle of impact, symptoms may range from local neck pain to lower back and pelvic pain, headaches, nausea and vomiting.

Our primary concern is that patients have had the necessary hospital X-ray and physical checks to discount serious post-traumatic features such as fractures or joint displacements.

In the acute stage of whiplash, our treatment is usually very gentle, restricting itself to managing tissue inflammation and decongestion, and providing gentle functional mobilisation. After a few days, treatment is more sustained and aims to restore good function to the joints and other tissues affected, and to the body as a whole to prevent any further strains arising from postural compensation.
