Come and join us in a series of Wellness with Herbs workshops that will teach you about medicinal plants and how to make your own medicines led by our Bridge to Health herbalist Julija Milovanova BSc (Hons) MCPP

Wellness with Herbs – Spring Liver Detox Workshop (2 hours) 

When: 28 February 2017 7.15pm
Where: Bridge To Health, Ealing
Number of participants: 4 participants
 
The spring is about to emerge, and we invite you to learn about how to detoxify your body and give your system a boost naturally by using herbs. Spring Liver Detox will help to cleanse toxins from the liver and blood, aid in digestion (especially fats), help with skin conditions (acne, eczema, rashes), and balance hormones.  You will learn about the role of bitters as well as about detoxifying herbs readily available in early spring and how to use them (for example, cleavers, chickweed, dandelion leaf and root).
Together we will make the following detoxifying remedies while sharing cups of herbal teas:
·         Digestive/liver cleanse/skin cleanse decoction
·         Lymphatic cleanse tea blends
·         Linseed and seaweed tea
·         Bath salts with essential oils
 
You will also learn about the benefits of Abhyanga self-massage with herbal carrier oils to aid that lymphatic drainage and relaxation. A basic holistic 2-week liver detox plan will also be shared and discussed.

Wellness with Herbs – First Aid Herbal Kit (2 hours)

When: 25 April 2017 7.15pm
Where: Bridge To Health, Ealing

Learn about how to use herbal medicine as the First Aid that is natural and chemical-free.
During this 2-hour workshop you will learn how to use well-known plant medicines as the First Aid. You will walk away with the knowledge on how to build your own herbal First Aid kit and to prepare common herbs for particular First Aid situations (cuts and scrapes, burns, bug bites, contact rashes, upset stomach, diarrhoea, muscle aches, bleeding and bruises).
Together we will make some of the First Aid kit remedies while sharing cups of herbal tea.
•     Antimicrobial healing salve
•     Muscle aches and pains liniment
•     Ginger capsules

Wellness with HerbsCombat Stress, Increase your Energy and Stamina (2hours)

When: 16 May 2017 7.15pm
Where: Bridge To Health, Ealing

Learn how to reduce stress and increase your energy naturally without the red-bull!
You will learn about a wealth of adaptogenic herbs that help the body to cope with ongoing stress and work on balance within the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. These herbs increase vitality, and help with fatigue, anxiety and sleep, support thyroid gland function and cardiovascular health as well as work on your immune system. Sounds too good to be true? Adaptogenic herbs are not magic though and work best with moderate exercise, healthy nutrition and mindfulness practices. Thus, famous American herbalist Michael Moor believes that “to me, endogenous adaptogenic activities would be meditation, good sleep, moderate exercise, nurturing sex and a good diet”.
Together we will make the following remedies:
·         Energy/Stamina boost decoction
·         Stress relief herbal tea blends
·         Medicinal brandy

Wellness with HerbsMove Your Bowels! (2 hours)

Learn about how to aid the health of your bowels whether it is to aid elimination or to treat haemorrhoids using natural chemical-free medicines. In this practical workshop we will be learning about gentle and stronger laxatives, importance of bitter herbs.
Together we will make the following medicines while sharing cups of herbal teas to stay well hydrated:
·         Gentle digestive and laxative decoction
·         Herbal tincture for relieving constipation
·         Suppositories using cocoa butter and astringent herbs to treat haemorrhoids

Wellness with HerbsNourish your Skin (2 hours)

When: 19 September 2017 7.15pm
Where: Bridge To Health, Ealing
Number of participants: 4 participants
 
Learn about how plant medicines can help you skin to stay healthy, youthful and radiant.
This practical workshop will focus on making medicinal creams and cosmetic creams and lotions to aid in various skin conditions - acne, psoriasis, eczema, rashes - as well as moisturise and rejuvenate the skin.
Together we will make the following medicines while sharing cups of herbal teas that are good for your skin!
·         Lotion for acne
·         Herbal cream for such skin conditions as eczema or psoriasis
·         Herbal moisturising cream
·         Herbal rejuvenating cream
·         Herbal baths
 
We will learn the benefits of the Abhyanga self-massage that help our skin to stay supple, soft, youthful and well hydrated.

Wellness with HerbsBalance your Hormones (Women only)         

When: 17 October 2017 7.15pm
Where: Bridge To Health, Ealing
Number of participants: 4 participants
 
Learn how medicinal plants can help us, women, to balance our hormones, regardless whether we are in the age of spring (teenagehood) , summer (young women) or autumn (mature women entering menopause). You will learn about the herbs that can help us to stay tuned with our bodies and work on hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, adrenal or gonads helping to achieve hormonal balance and hence balance our lives.
Together we will make the medicines reflecting the three difference ages:
·         Herbal balance your hormones decoction for the youth
·         Herbal balance your hormones decoction for the women of reproductive ages
·         Herbal balance your hormones decoction for the women in menopause

Immunity + Winter Wellness with Herbs (2 hours)

When: 14 November 2017 7.15pm
Where: Bridge To Health, Ealing
Number of participants: 4 participants
 
Learn about Immunity +Wellness plants and create your own plant-based remedies for Immunity + Wellness during this practical hands-on workshop. Together we will make these remedies from all natural chemical-free plant products.
·         cold and flu tea
·         antibacterial and anti-viral infused oil (for cooking and internal consumption)
·         lozenges for sore throat
·         cough syrup
·         chest rub
·         sore throat decoction
All recipes will use widely available herbs that are safe and effective for building resilience throughout the winter months. Immunity and winter wellness herbal teas will be available for tasting throughout the session.
