Bridge to Health welcomes Laura Currie, Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach
Laura has been in the industry for many years after qualifying in 2010. She has a well-rounded and balanced approach to health and wellbeing.
Laura runs health retreats and raw food workshops as well as running her own nutrition clinic. She has also worked with schools and corporate companies to promote a healthy diet. Her knowledge is extensive, complemented by having worked with some renowned supplement companies such as Nutri Advanced, Sun Chlorella and Symprove.
Laura believes in science backed therapies and does testing where needed. She has qualified in Nutrigenomics and trained in Functional Medicine.

What do you most love about your job?
I love seeing the sense of empowerment that my clients get from taking responsibility for their own health. I get a real sense of being from seeing a patient walk into my office (sometimes almost on their knees) and, after working with them for a period of time, watching them blossom into the person that they used to be - vibrant, full of energy and ultimately regaining their health.
Often, when people come to see me, they are so unwell that they have no energy, often little social life and their health may be affecting their relationship. I do what I do because there is no better feeling than supporting someone when they are ready to turn their life around for the better.
Why did you retrain to become a Nutritionist / Lifestyle consultant?
I retrained to become a nutritionist in my mid-twenties and qualified just before my 30th birthday - a massive achievement for me. It wasn’t until I found nutritional therapy that I knew it was what I had been longing to do my whole life. I was not that healthy myself at the time and felt that I needed to train in something that was worthwhile and was actually going to make a difference to people’s lives. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.
What has been your most rewarding experience in work to date?
I am lucky to have had many rewarding experiences. Two that stand out. I had a client who walked into my office so unwell she could barely string a sentence together. She was exhausted. She never went out with friends and everything she ate she reacted to. We worked together for many months but within the first few I remember her walking into my clinic, upright, upbeat, full of energy. The diet plan was working. She was like a completely different person.
The second, a young girl in her early twenties, reacted to everything she ate. Being completely exhausted was having a negative effect on her relationship. We worked together to completely rid her body of all symptoms. She started going out again, and got married! It’s experiences like these that make every bit of doing my job worthwhile.
What do you like most about being part of the Bridge to Health team?
Working at Bridge to Health is wonderful for many reasons, but what makes it a great clinic is the experience and professionalism of all of the staff. For me, being totally supported as a therapist by other therapists is invaluable. It really is a great integrative clinic to work at. Every client is unique, and is treated that way by everyone here.
Finally, what is your top health tip?
My top health tip is to grow a healthy relationship with food, and become mindful of labelling foods as ‘good or bad’. I see the negative relationship we can often have with food a lot in my clinic. This actually leads to a lot of obsessing over what is ‘good/bad’ and creates unhealthy patterns. Life is about balance so I always recommend the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time you eat a well-rounded healthy diet and 20% of the time you eat a little of what you fancy and what makes you happy.
