The Ealing Half Marathon – a cherished community event.
A patient of ours, 17-year-old Isabelle, had been diagnosed with this extremely rare cancer – epithelioid haemangioendothelioma – and after a brave fight, she sadly passed away earlier this year. We were all very touched by Isabelle’s story and Sian opted to run the Ealing Half to raise funds for EHE research. This cancer is rare, unpredictable and can become aggressive without warning. There is no known cause and, sadly, no cure. It was very moving to be joined at the event by Claire-Anne Miller, Isabelle’s Mum, who came to cheer Sian on, and thank her for her efforts after the race. An emotional time indeed.
To date, Sian has raised close to £1100, and still the donations are coming in. If you can help by adding to the final total raised, we’d be very grateful. Please donate by following this link: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sian-smith16
We would also like to extend a huge “well done” to Malcolm who crossed the line in an amazing 1hour 30 minutes. A fantastic effort! Malcolm won the Bridge To Health Preparation Package in the summer and has been working with the team here, and Equinox Coaching, to fine tune his running technique and prepare, overall, for the event. His next challenge is now the Abingdon Marathon on 21st October. GOOD LUCK!
A final note to say thank you to all those that volunteered their time to support the Ealing Half Marathon once again. This is a cherished community event, and without the supporters it just wouldn’t be possible.
